i am the chosen one

Last night, after real taps (which was "Flava Flaaaaaaaav! Flava Flaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaav! Flava Flav, Flava Flav, Flava Flaaaaaaaaaaaaaav!") my girls, who must have plotted this out in advance, all sort of tackled me, shrieking, "SKIN SO SOOOOOOOFT! WANT TO TOUUUUUUUUCH! WANT TO FEEEEEL ON YOUR SKIIIIIIIIIN SKIN SO SOOOOOOOOOOOOFT!" to the tune of taps. It was a little terrifying, especially because I had my arms full of stuff and couldn't fend them off.

Taps the night before was worse. I had forgotten about taps because there was all this stuff I had to do plus a field trip to the Waikiki Aquarium, so I just let a very enthusiastic Itanza, Audrey, Kristin and Emily do an unrehearsed taps. What they ended up doing was standing four in a row, each representing a note:

Itanza--Audrey--Kristin--Emily
---5-------1-------3------5---

and doing pelvic thrusts every time their note was sung. Tonight, as it is my night off, I asked that the girls come up with a taps on their own. That group was very enthusiastic about doing it, and I am very nervous.

Today is my day off, and I've spent almost all of it just chilling with CTY, because what else is there to do? I feel like I've already done the Tour Oahu thing, nobody else is off to come have fun with me, and besides, it's refreshing enough to just be around but not have to do anything.

So what I have done so far on my day off:

Went on the Hanauma Bay field trip with Oceanography, snorkeled around and was sort of pissed both because it didn't live up to the first time I went there and also because I had to wait in line for half an hour to get a four-dollar ice cream bar.

Acquired the top half of a wetsuit from Steve-O, who found it on the beach after the Shark's Cove field trip and was attempting to wear it at Hanauma Bay, even though it is an XS. He said "It's a little hard to get on, but once it's on, it's like a giant hug," which is both strangely out of character and strangely in character. I am currently still wearing the wetsuit as a shirt, because I really like the way it looks and I don't want to go back to the dorm, because it's my goddamn night off.

Got about twelve burrs thrown into my hair.

Bought some thrift store outfits, enabling me to hold out on laundry for two more days, at which point I can scavenge all my girls' leftover laundry cards.

Laid around on the beach, telling my girls that I didn't know them when they bugged me about something.

PURCHASED CHEESE STICKS. ATE CHEESE STICKS.

List 5 reasons you are a dork. And make them good reasons. Justify them. Explain them. Be loud and proud of how big a dork you are! Then pick the 5 biggest dorks you know and have them do the meme.

1. I am so into marching band.

2. I once stayed up all night when I really shouldn't have because I was so excited to learn html. And later I did the same thing for Java, and Photoshop.

3. Chrono Trigger probably lowered my freshman year GPA by at least half a point.

4. I'm basically half-majoring in comics.

5. I'm working at fucking dork camp, so that makes me Queen Dork as well as Queen Vag.

Oh, one more reason that just happened just now (I'm writing in the staff lounge for the free pizza):

Jack is currently doing a demo of the end-of-session slideshow, and he used some of the score of the Grim Fandango as background music. Upon hearing it, Sam and I simultaneously shouted, "Oh my god! Grim Fandango! Best game ever!" and then proceeded to squeal for a bit. Yay team Vag!

Well, you didn't mention me, but I couldn't resist comparing dorkdom. Here goes.

1. I have over 5000 magic cards.
2. I play online text based RPGs called MUDs, which stands for Multi User Dungeons
3. I know that BoShek beat Han's record time for the Kessel Run.
4. I watched Star Trek Enterprise just because it was Star Trek.
5. I used to work at fucking dork camp.

You got me beat, man. What can I say? I forgot how big a dork you were. What was that thing that we were all talking about in Ester's room during Jeopardy that one time that caused everyone there to shriek and realize the enormity of your dork knowledge? I remember the moment very clearly. Didn't it have something to do with Star Wars?

P.S. I know what a MUD is.

1. I know why Golden Toads, Prairie Dog Owls, Blue Ring Octopui, Sea Wasps, Spiny Anteaters and Fig Wasps are totally cool. Totally.

2. I know enough about grammar to be aware that none of that previous stuff should've been capitalized. And I know enough grammar to be obnoxious. Oh, and I'm collecting a list of phrases like "make due", "lames terms" "without further adieu", because they make the little hairs on my neck stand up.

3. I also collect other people's grocery lists, when I find them. I have a drawer.

4. When I'm alone in the store, I sing along to the music. And dance. Full-out. I pretend I'm in an 80's teen movie. And it's even better because of the slight paranoid feeling of horrible dorkiness. I dance by myself at the 'Sco, too.

5. I have a Livejournal.

I LOVE YOU CHARLIE BUT YOU ARE NOT NEARLY AS BLATANT A DORK AS THE PEOPLE ON MY LIST

Oh so I guess the point is to have obviously dorky dorks point out their obviously dorky dorkiness, rather than to have totally awesome people reveal tiny flaws in their otherwise impenetrable sheen of kickassitude.

I dig.

Oh God Chrono Trigger. I have an emulator on my computer and started playing it like a week ago, until I realized that if I played any more I'd quite seriously stop going to classes and just play it.

CHARLIE I CHOOSE YOUUUUUUUUUUUU

Emily, you've gotten the "Skin So Soft" version of taps stuck in my head. I may never forgive you for this. Or your girls. :-P
